Spreading Love in NYC – How It All Began

After a busy Valentine’s Day in 2021, we had extra flowers that couldn’t go to waste. Rather than let them sit in our studio, we decided to make mini bouquets and hit the streets of NYC to hand out free bouquets. It wasn’t a planned event—just a moment of inspiration that turned into something bigger than we could have imagined.

We created what we call Bouquettes, coined by Rachel to mean mini bouquets, that we sold at Flower Pop up shops we occasionally had. We didn’t know what to expect, but what unfolded was beyond what we could have expected.

Rachel took a cart, buckets filled with mini Bouquettes, and went to a busy New York City corner at Bryant Park in midtown Manhattan. At first, people immediately rejected these flowers, unsure why someone was handing out bouquets without asking for anything in return. Most people thought this was a solicitation of a bouquet sale.

As the confusion melted away and the realization set in that this was simply an act of kindness, the reactions were unforgettable.

Surprise turned into delight, and delight turned into gratitude, and lines were formed to receive these bouquets with big thank-you’s, hugs, and even a tip!

That day sparked a tradition. For the past three years, we’ve celebrated Valentine’s Day by bringing a little extra love to the streets of NYC, one bouquet at a time. The moments we’ve captured along the way have been priceless, from the heartwarming smiles of strangers to the sheer joy of turning an ordinary day into something special for someone.

We posted these videos on our social channels and they have received over 15M views.   If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out here (which year? Or should we link all 3 years?) :

The joy of seeing strangers light up made us realize we’d stumbled onto something meaningful. Since then, the Valentine’s Day giveaway has become one of our favorite traditions, and it’s a beautiful reminder of why we love what we do.

Why We Do It

At its heart, our giveaway is about connection. New York City can be a tough, fast-paced place, but moments like this remind us that kindness can break through even the busiest day. Giving flowers is our way of sharing a little love and joy with our community.

If you’ve received one of our flowers in past giveaways, we’d love to hear your story! Share your experience or tag us on Instagram or TikTok—we love seeing how these small moments make a difference. Or if you want to order a flowers for yourself or a loved one, you can order on our website here.

Thank you for supporting us and being part of this tradition. Here’s to many more years of spreading love, one flower at a time.
