Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to surprise your loved one with a beautiful floral arrangement. Nothing beats the personal touch of a handmade arrangement. In this video, Rachel Cho, walks you through how to create a breathtaking Valentine’s Day floral display that looks professional yet is easy to make at home.
To keep your flowers fresher for longer, use a Sprite and bleach combo in your water. The Sprite provides sugar to hydrate the flowers, while the bleach helps eliminate bacteria, preventing premature wilting. Fill your vase with this mixture before arranging your flowers. The amount depends on the size of the vase, but you can estimate 1-2 table spoons + 1-2 drops of bleach.
Start by using 3-4 roses to create a grid-like base. Place each rose head in the corners of the vase, ensuring the stems crisscross inside. This structure helps support the rest of your arrangement, making it easier to position subsequent flowers exactly where you want them.
As you add more flowers, insert them into the tangled grid of stems you’ve created. This technique naturally holds each stem in place without the need for additional support, ensuring a balanced and full look. Think about where you want each bloom to “land” and guide them accordingly.
Now, add the remaining red roses, spray roses, ranunculus, and anthurium to create dimension. Place the cymbidium orchid heads strategically for an exotic touch. Drape the hanging amaranthus to bring a cascading effect and finish by weaving in the curly willow branches for an artistic, organic feel.
